Pre-purchase inspection, Chief Engineer-led.

Before you buy a vessel, have it inspected by someone who works for you, not the broker or the seller. We inspect ships of every type, anywhere in the world. Inspections are led by Dheeraj R Patil, a Chief Engineer.

15 PPIs in the last two years All vessel types Chief Engineer-led, with a local inspector where your budget is limited
How it works

A pre-purchase inspection tells you what you are really buying.

01

Tell us the vessel and the port

Vessel type, age, where it can be inspected and your timeline. Use the form below.

02

Chief Engineer-led inspection

Led by Dheeraj. Where your budget is limited, we can appoint a local inspector at the port.

03

You decide with facts

You receive the inspection findings so you can negotiate, buy, or walk away.

Typical scope: hull and structure, main engine and auxiliaries, class and statutory certificates, maintenance records, cargo holds or tanks, and safety and navigation equipment. The scope is agreed with you before we start.

After the purchase: we can also carry out the repairs and upgrades the vessel needs and deliver it to you. See Vessel Acquisition and Dry Docking.

Request a pre-purchase inspection

Tell us what you are looking at and the timeline you are working with. Dheeraj reviews every inspection enquiry personally before we respond.

Enquiry received.

We will review the vessel details and come back to you, usually within one working day.

Join our PPI inspector panel

We are building a worldwide panel of marine inspectors to carry out pre-purchase inspections for vessel buyers. If you are a master, chief engineer, surveyor or naval architect with inspection experience, please apply.

  • Who we look for — experienced masters, chief engineers, marine surveyors and naval architects who have carried out vessel inspections or condition surveys.
  • What we ask — your ports and vessel types, your experience, whether you hold professional indemnity insurance, two references, and (if you can) one anonymised sample report.
  • What happens next — you receive a thank-you email. When an enquiry matches your port and vessel type, our team contacts you.

This is empanelment only. Joining the panel does not guarantee any work, and Seavantek charges no fee to join.
