Why Seavantek exists
Dheeraj R Patil started as a Fourth Engineer with Neptune Orient Lines in 2001. He worked his way through ranks at MSC and Synergy Marine Group, holding Chief Engineer certification before coming ashore in 2013 as Technical Manager at Crowley Accord Marine Management. He founded Seavantek Shipping Services Pvt Ltd on 18 March 2019 with one office in Mumbai.
The Hong Kong office followed as the company grew its reach into the Asian S&P and technical advisory market. Across the founding team's sea and shore careers, Seavantek's expertise spans bulk carriers, tankers, and MPP vessels representing approximately 4,00,000 DWT, with a seafarer database of over 50,000 qualified crew across all ranks.
“Most ship management is about telling owners what they want to hear. We built Seavantek to tell owners what they need to know — which sometimes means saying the deal isn’t worth doing, the cost isn’t justified, or the problem is more serious than the previous report suggested.”
What sets Seavantek apart is a culture of reading the primary source — and reading the vessel itself. When a vessel is put forward for purchase, Dheeraj does not read the seller’s summary — he reads the Loading Manual, the Class Survey reports, and the maintenance records line by line. But a document only tells half of it. The other half comes from standing in the engine room: checking the machinery nameplates against what was declared, seeing the actual condition of hull, deck, and accommodation firsthand. An experienced Chief Engineer can often tell within minutes of boarding where the real problems are — a sound that isn’t right, a wear pattern that shouldn’t be there, a maintenance shortcut no report would ever mention. When a cost number looks wrong, he does not accept the explanation — he goes to the invoice level. When a client has a PSC deficiency, the advice comes from someone who has faced the same deficiency on a vessel they were responsible for.
Beyond ship management, Seavantek has built all four of its internal business systems in-house — a Crew Management CRM, an Accounts and Finance system, a Purchase and Spectmar module, and a Foundation management system for the Kasley Foundation. Every piece of software used internally was designed and built by the same person who reads the pre-purchase documentation. That is the character of the company.
Philanthropic Work
Dheeraj is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Kasley Foundation — a 0%-admin-fee NGO based in Navi Mumbai that he founded during COVID-19 after organising local feeding of 200 families for three months when larger organisations failed to act. Every rupee donated goes directly to the recipient. Visit Kasley Foundation →
What we manage
Seavantek's technical management capability covers bulk carriers, product tankers, and multipurpose (MPP) vessels — built on hands-on experience managing these exact vessel types across the founding team's sea and shore careers. The scope: planned maintenance, regulatory compliance, procurement, dry docking coordination, and 24/7 superintendent support, ready to take on a fleet mandate on that same basis. Crew management is conducted under RPSL Licence No. 1027, with placements across all ranks for Indian seafarers.
The company also provides pre-purchase inspection and technical due diligence services to buyers and brokers as a standalone service — meaning you do not need to be a managed fleet client to access the technical audit capability. Several S&P transactions in the bulk and MPP market have been supported on this basis, including review work for international buyers transacting through Singapore and Dubai brokers.
Day to day, that means planned maintenance schedules tracked against class and statutory due dates, not against a spreadsheet that gets updated when someone remembers to. It means a technical superintendent who has actually run the machinery being managed, not just read the manual for it. And it means every procurement quotation is routed to the owner for approval before a vendor is confirmed — the same discipline whether it's a single spare part or a full dry-dock specification.
